Chloe is 11 weeks old today. I noticed a bit of shedding, could she already be starting to lose her puppy coat?

Also, I weighed her last night and she already weighs 20 pounds. Her last vet visit 3 weeks ago she weighed 13. That seems like a huge weight gain but it has been awhile since I raised a pup.

At ten weeks, Coco weighed 11.6 pounds;

at 14 weeks she was 17 pounds...5.4 pound gain
17 1/2 weeks old she weighed 25.6 a whopping 8.6 pounds in three and half weeks!!!!

So the weight gain must be as movistar said.....just fine!

Coco only sheds a tiny bit when I brush her.....so it may be that yours will shed a little.

Thanks, I was just concerned that 20 pounds was a little much for 11 weeks but she isn't overweight, just a big black chunk. She lookes like a bear cub. I am beginning to think that she will be a bit larger than the 50 pounds that the breeder estimated her adult weight to be.

The shedding is minimal and only if I kind of pull it with my hands. She is an F1B so I am hoping for no shed or at least the smallest amount possible.

Dexter is a F1B. About once a week I will notice little puff balls of his hair so I'll vacuum :) I do get a decent amount of hair out when I brush him. I find his slight "shedding" to be even less when I brush him regularly so you may want to try that if you wish to cut down on the hair you're finding.

About the weight - I think Dex was even bigger than that at 11 weeks :) He has topped out at 65 lbs and hit 60 lbs by 6 mos

Chloe is super duper cute!!!

Ebbe seemed to gain 10 pounds a month the first three months we had her. At 5 mos. she began to slow down and is 65 lbs. at 8 months. Interesting enough, the breeder told us she shouldn't be any bigger 50 - 55 lbs. also. By 12 weeks we knew that wasn't going to happen.

Max (labradoodle)was 28 or 30 lbs at 14 wks...he's now 67lb and 26 in high. Lean body build. he sheds a little and i just sweep 3min a day.

max slowed down at 6mos and had a major growth spurt at 9mos old.
my breeder said max would be 50-55lb....yeah right !!hahahhaa

Peanut was tiny and 14lbs at 9wks....she's 7mos and 40+lbs at 21.5 in high and loooks like a little porker. she too slowed down in growth at 6mos and i pray she does NOT have a growth spurt.
Peanut is a small standard goldendoodle and doesn't shed

Omigosh, Chouette is fourteen weeks and only 15 lbs! I wonder if that means she'll be smaller than the 60 or 65 lbs we were expecting?

She has what I think is a fleecy coats, since it's a bit more silky than cottony. It's thick and wavy and so far she doesn't shed at all, but of course this is still a puppy coat.

Leslie ---there ARE advantages to them being a bit smaller. Whereas Max can take up half the back seat, half the bed ...peanut doesn't. also it's easier picking up a smaller dog (well ususally unless they make their body limp) . I can't pick max up at all ,and he's only 67lb. Also when a 40lb doodle bangs into you it doesn't hurt as much as the 67lb taller one

RiverRat, when Moses was 16 weeks old he weighed 29 lbs. He was underweight for his frame by quite a few lbs. He is now 13 months old and about 60 lbs. He's no longer skinny... but he is still growing. In case that helps you any for comparison. He's currently 2-3" taller than our full grown lab girls.

Leslie,

Chouette is only 2 pounds under what Coco weighed at 14 weeks.....
Not much difference....she probably will have a spurt soon!

Leslie,

Coco on the first of July...just a week over 7 months old
weighed 48.6 pounds.
On the 25th she will be 8 months old and I know she is over 50 now
....but will have her weighed about Aug.1....

She is really heavy to pick up now....don't do it often.

She tried swimming again today she really didn't like it much.
She panics. Poor thing. We don't have a pool, so it's not an issue....just thought she would like it once in awhile, but maybe not. :(

Just got back from Chloe's vet visit for her 3rd round of shots. She weighed in at a whopping 22 pounds! The vet said she definitely wasn't overweight and gave her an excellent bill of health.

that's why I asked...my camera or flash does the same to Coco...either they were blue as a little pup, or they are day glow green now....unless I am outside and the flash isn't needed, it is hard to get a true picture of them!!

there's a growth chart available to look at for averages.... let me see if I can find the link. Also, yeah, the heat could have put a stall in Chouette's weight gain, or any pup's I should think.
here's the link: http://www.goldendoodles.com/Health/growth_chart.htm

they give the disclaimer about this being an estimate and then say a dog being close to half its weight around 4 mos. old. :D
