I have a quiestion for you guys. Well I know winter just started and we have a few more months before it starts getting warm again, but my husband brought something up and I cant get it out of my head hehe, so I'm gonna ask you. During the warmer months of the year, well thats year round for some I guess, do you have trouple with bugs like spiders or ants hitching a ride in your doodles fur and in to your house  :?

Hehe, I have had a dog before, but not were it gets really hot like here, and well I can live with spiders and bugs and all that outside, but I really really REALLY hate them in my house hahaha :D :D :D

Please share with me your experience on this matter, and of course if you take actions against bugs that work well I would love to know

Never had a problem with Boyd but then again, Frontline is applied year round in Northern Virginia. I think Ann Marie posted that dogs can get quite sick if they eat spiders so watch for that!

Our biggest issue right now is Boyd bringing in all the leaves that have fallen. They stick to his hair like glue!

ok thanks for you answer. Funny thing with the leafs, now all is covered in snow but Kasper seems to allways find some leafs and try to bring them inside hehe, not that they stick to him, but he digs for them and carries them in his mouth :p

I am so glad I dont have to worrie about this, I will of course use something like frontline. haha and I can tell my hubby not to worrie either , hehe he is worse than me, I was greatful for getting to use the doors on our house last summer, he was so crazy about keeping them shut for the bugs and flies hahaha :D :D :D

No, that doesn't happen...believe me, we have plenty of dogs and we live in spider/scorpion country!
Nope...the dogs ave very sensitive to anything crawling on them, if you wonder, just gently touch your dog's hair when he is sleeping...generally they will start the "corn cob nibble" to get it off!
Now, that is not to say that they won't actually BRING the spider in...to play with! (We found a huge spider in our bed once, I am pretty sure one of the dogs was playing with it!)

we do a lot of hiking and camping in the summer with kumo, and we've never had spiders or ants hitch a ride on his fur and come into the tent. now, leaves, sticks and dirt are another story! and, we do have to be careful about ticks -- it is possible for a tick to hitch a ride, and before it has embedded itself in the dog decide the humans in the tent are tastier and bite one of us instead. we do regular tick checks of ourselves and kumo when we're out in the woods, and keep tweezers with us in case tick removal is necessary. we use frontline for flea and tick protection, and rarely find any ticks on kumo or ourselves.

Hi...reading this raised a question for me...does everybody use their Frontline-Advantage products year round? I dont treat my dogs in late fall and winter...figuring that the cold (first frost) kills those little buggers...I havent had any problems....I always figured that stuff is toxic so why use it unnecessarily.

here in Western NY bugs and spiders in a house is extremely common but they don't get on our doodles

I also keep 5 out of 6 acres mowed down which greatly reduces bugs
and check daily during summer months for ticks and in fall for fleas

to-date no problems with doodle BUT OMG i have to weekly check for spiders, stink bugs and more hahahahhahaa

OH spiders do bite..as my son and I are allergic to their bites and possiby max too

We use the Advantix year round because here (northern CA) after a rain we often get ticks.
Also, I once lived in a house that was flea infested (and we had no animals!) It was the biggest nightmare...so, I'd say, yes...but I know that many people don't.
Also, the Advantix will kill the tick once it embeds itself into the dog, prventing reproduction...but it won't stop the tick from doing it's thing...my vet said the only thing to keep ticks away is a flea and tick collar, he said you just use it when they are outside and take it off when not needed.
