Smiley (Sky View Cool Star) won the time trial at obedience school graduation tonight, and got his graduation certificate, but...
was so bounding off the walls nutty that he'll repeat beginner 1. I'll write part of that off to teenage hormones and the fact that he replaced Princess in the class after she was adopted, so only attended three classes including tonight, but he was Really bouncing! It brought to mind Annmarie's old post about Max's first night in class.

His time trial consisted of a run through four stations, each of which involved a three-second "stay" in a particular pose (sit, down, stand, sit/wait/recall) We ran the stations in 18:41 for the win. Good boy, Smiley!!!

Quite impressive since he didn't go to all the classes. He must be a natural! Congrats, Smiley!
Thanks, Deb. I think, like most doodles, he really IS a natural. The trainer remarked that I obviously work with my dogs... and I didn't have the heart to correct her.

She doesn't realize how many times she saw me present something to Smiley for the first time in class... and he Gets it! Of course he's so Food oriented that it isn't hard to get his undivided attention.

This week I taught him to Stand while we were waiting our turn. I quickly discovered that he is spring loaded to Sit when he sees food. It all but cost him the family jewels to have me holding him up during the quicke crash course... but we got enough to get through the three second stay, which was all it took.

Doodles Rock!
