Hi guys! I am so frustrated!! Boyd has the runs all because our 12 year old neighbor gave him treats he shouldn't have had. If you guys recall, she lets Boyd out when she gets home from school.

I was trying to figure out why his tummy was so out of sorts and in my sleuthing I found remnants of treats that had icing on them. I know she means well but the poor guy is not well. She must have gone to the pet store and bought the fancy treats they keep in the bins up front.

I left a note saying that Boyd should have no treats today and that in the future he can only have treats we provide but at the same time I don't want to chastise her for what was a nice gesture.

I fed him rice and pumpkin this morning and told the dog walker to call me if he seemed lethargic. He's still very playful so I'm not too concerned.

Thanks for listening!!

We're at the tail end of the same situation. My advice would be to feed him nothing for the rest of the day. Then, tomorrow do the rice and ground beef, maybe scrambled egg (no butter or oil), cottage cheese. Just four small meals.
He should be over it in a day or so. NO fun!

Thanks!! You're right, no fun at all. Poor guy looks so embarrassed and miserable when he goes. Mommy knows it's not his fault - I wish I was home hugging on him right now...

Just an update on Boyd, I had to take a fecal to the vet on Saturday to rule out any parasites (which they did) but he was put on two different meds since he was vomiting and had the runs. At least it was only a $50 visit. He seems better now but is restricted to a rice/chicken diet for a few days.

Said neighbor was called Sunday night to reiterate NO treats other than that which we put in the treat jar!

Did you tell your neighbor why she can't give the treats she buys? I had to explain to my Dad (who wants to give Maya a cookie every minute) that she gets sick easily and then she sulks cause she isn't feeling good. It made him feel bad about giving her the treats so he stopped and only gives then when I say it's ok.

Sheesh $50...you lucky duck! I had to take in a sample from Sadie yesterday AND Sadie too. Her poop tested negative but she was given 2 injections and sent home with 2 meds and it was $126.20! :(

Poor Boyd!! Hope he's better soon. Just goes to show you.....even the fancy treats from the Pet Store can be not so good for the doodle belly. I got some for Jonah's b-day recently, but never gave them to them since they also got raw bones that day. Now I'm having 2nd thoughts about them. My vet's a little more that $50 when meds are included!!

GET WELL SOON BOYD!!

Miko says WOOF and runny poops or not, you're still a stud!!

Thanks for all the well wishes guys! Boyd is almost back to normal - I like the chicken/rice diet - it makes for tiny poops! :)

Nan, the neighbor gave him fancy dog treats that had blue icing on them. I made sure she knows chocolate, raisins, grapes, etc. are harmful to dogs. She meant well but boy did it mess with him!

Regarding the vet bill, I was pleasantly surprised myself - usually I don't get out of there for less than $150...
