I know many of you use Best Shot products - shampoo, rinse, detangler spray

MY question is - do they have a strong scent??? if they have a scent what type of scent - whats it smell like

I have environmental and chemical allergies and am very limited on product I can use for me and Annabelle, but I love the sound of the products - leaving my baby silk clean sounds liek heaven

Thank you :)

They definitely have a smell, but I almost can't describe it. In my opinion the smell is very mild and I really only smell it if I put my nose very close to Dexter. I really like the smell (it smells "clean" if that makes any sense). Maybe Linda can give a better description.

Can anyone tell me where to purchase the Best Shot products? They were recommended to me back in the spring when our doodle Sadie was matted. However, after taking her to the groomer where she ended up being SHAVED right down to the skin (against our wishes), I haven't had to worry about mats all summer. Which turned out to be a good thing as Sadie loves swimming. Now her coat is grown out such that the mats on her head are starting to appear again. I want to stay on top of the them this time and avoid another grooming catastrophe!

Hi Mary!
The best deal would be the Pet Edge 3 pack trial offer. I think there is an extra $6.99 charge without a minimum order though (and I can't find what the minimum order amount is!)

www.dog.com also had the trial pack before, but i don't see it now.

Sit stay has it, too:

The products have a mint scent that does not last very long.
There is actually Oil of peppermint in it.

The products can be used full strength or diluted 3:1 with water.

I still can't believe it got those huge matts out of Bella's coat! And when you use the conditioner, don't worry that it is not going to work. It really does not foam up at all, and it certainly does not feel all silky when you put it on, BUT the results after drying are fabulous!

we've used all three together. we actually just finished giving Kirby a bath and am waiting for him to dry (I didn't want to overdo it by using the blow dryer today). I didn't have the same great results Linda did with Dexter, but we'll see what happens with Kirby. I do like the product a lot, mostly for how soft and nice smelling they wind up.

I just use the shampoo and conditioner for bath time. I only use the spray for in- between bathtimes grooming. Leslie, because Bella was so matted this last time, I used the products on her at full strength. I also let the conditioner soak on her for about 10 minutes. Dexter looks like a different coat than Bella, maybe that could also account for the different results? Bella's coat is very thick with very tight curls. Dexters looks very soft and silky with waves.

yes, Linda, the difference could be from the difference in their coats. We used it all on Kirby tonight. He smells great. He's very soft, but still has mats. Then again, Kirby's coat is somewhat like Dexter's. I'm going through the mats slowly with scissors and thinning shears (thanks Annmarie for the tip). His head is much better (he had a big mat there), however we found that his paws are totally matted so I don't see a way to avoid shaving them :(

You're right Linda - it is a fresh mint smell. I love the scent - my whole bathroom actually smells nice like it now :) Oh yeah - we use everything full strength too.

If you can find the ingredients online to be sure you aren't allergic to any of them....I'd order them for sure. I took the recommendation to heart and love these products.

The smell is refreshing....not heavily scented or perfume"y"

I use them full strength and probably have used too much...wasting it somewhat. I may try it diluted some and see if it is all that different.

Good Luck!

hahaha, we are in the shower TOGETHER with the door closed, no escape  Poor Bella just looks at me with those mournful eyes! By the time i get her all conditioned up, it's been 10 minutes, so I rinse her.
I tried to find the ingredients listing. The rules must be different for dog shampoos, because the bottles don't even list them.

Marc is all excited. This new shower we put in out lower level is a walk in (no door or curtain) with two rain and one hand held shower heads.

He thinks it will be the ideal spot to bathe Ebbe, the doodle who hates water!

I'll let you know how it turns out :?

That type of shower should be perfect for bathing doodles....except you may have to put her on a leash to get her to stay in there....Coco would make the great escape in short order!! Should install a loop hook, doodle- high to attach the leash to, so that you are hands free to bathe her.

Beats my shower stall, which when she was little we both got into....but now I have been using the hose outside...and her leash. the water from the hose is quite warm, so isn't a problem.
