A very good friend of mine has a BMD and would like to add another to her family. Her last breeder is no longer in the business and is unreachable. Do any of you know of a great breeder for these wonderful dogs? Willie is Matey's best friend and mentor. He is a great dog and is also a therapy dog.

Cant' help, have never met a BMD or one who breeds them - neighbor plans on breeding New Foundlands I love them except for the drooling

Cheryl, I don't know a Bernese breeder, but I do know a great 'Swissie' breeder. Swiss Mountain dogs are related but bigger than Bernese, here is what i found online:
The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog comes to us from the farms and villages of the Swiss Alps. He is the largest (and probably the oldest) of the four Sennenhund Breeds (including the Appenzell Cattle Dog, Entlebuch Cattle Dog, and the AKC-recognized Bernese Mountain Dog).

Anyway, just in case she is interested, the breeder owns a training and doggie day care facility in NJ and he is great with dogs. I don't know much about the breeding program, but I know he would be glad to talk to her if she is interested:

There are at least 3 BMD puppies in our neighborhood. One is a good wrestling buddy of Charlie's. I assume the breeder is in the Chicago area. Is that too far for you? If not, I'll try to get the info.
