Hi Everyone...My first post :) I've been thinking about a Labradoodle for some time now. I have two kids (8 and 11). About a year ago our 16 year old Chihuahua passed away. I think it's time for another family member. We are thinking about a Labradoodle because it hopefully will not shed.

It seems that the cost is about $2500-$3000? Would you recommend going with a non-certified breeder for a lower cost? If so, does anyone have a recommendation?

Also, I see that there are different types of Labradoodle out there. In general, how large are Labradoodles? Would you recommend getting a miniature one? Are they significantly smaller?

Thanks in advance for any assistance and guidance you can provide.

I would go with one from a reputable breeder.
We got Jewel at 12 weeks. She could easily sit in my lap. Now at 7 months she cannot but she is still just as much fun. She cost the upper end of the scale but very worth it.
She is big, but still walks softly and doesn't seem big. She's like a live stuffed animal. Your children are old enough to learn to speak to her and not let her jump on them.
