On a couple of the newborn pups there is a lighter colored stripe running right down their spine. This picture shows it fairly well.
I've never seen this before on dogs, so was wondering if it's unusual or just something new to me?

Oh that would be cool!
I've never heard of it before so was kinda shocked to see it.

I've only see it on donkeys. LOL I know there's one in the neighborhood... but don't think it got near Canada. teeheehee

Bwahahahaha, are you sure? Just kidding! I, too have heard that it indicates a fleece coat. I would love to know if it's true, so keep us posted! Beautiful puppy!!

I'll be innundating you all with pics soon. It's been SUCH a full day for both the dogs and I that I just didn't get more than that taken yet.

I figured Canada needed a break from people to relax with them even though she was very sweet natured and tolerant of our monkeying around with her pups so far. When I discovered the 3rd black pup, my granddaughter was in the pen with me and asked to hold a black one... so I reached in and picked up one and was shocked to find it was still wet and slimey. I didn't think to look and check if it was one of the 2 dry ones born earlier... until I got a handful of wet puppy that wasn't even fully cleaned off yet. So at that point I told myself to just back off, give Canada some space and have patience. lol

No way should I have grabbed a pup right out from under her nose! A less good natured dog would have had me drawing back a stub at that point.

I can't praise her enough for how she's been today. Considering we've had her just 2 months, she's been a wonder dog. I think I could almost give a guarantee that the pups are going to have great temperments when I look at how lucky I've been with both parents. I'm counting my lucky stars!

LOL Calimom, That's a breed I've only seen on TV or in pictures.

I did have a strange border collie male in the yard this morning wanting to check out the pups though. He was weirdly colored, white in front. black in back... like he'd been dipped in paint half way. I'm sure I'd never seen that one before either!
