My experience is that if you don't have your dog with you, people will make disparaging remarks. The moment they see one, they fall in love...My dogs are worth every cent (and more..); they are better than I EVER could've imagined. Here's another point; have you noticed how intelligent, polite, and interesting the folks are on these doodle forums? It is a special group of people that has chosen to love these dogs...

doodle discrimination

When I take my labradoodle, Dave, out and about, I ALWAYS get stopped and asked what kind of dog he is. The reaction, when I tell them that he's a labradoodle, is mixed with some pure-breed dog owners giving me a snooty vibe...but ALL of them have big smiles on their faces when they first see him because he's so friendly and happy.
In our puppy classes, Dave was so charismatic that he won over everyone (and every dog) in the class.
Doodles ROCK! No one could convince me otherwise. :D

That is very sweet of you and it is very true. I have met some wonderful people thru my doodles and some lifelong friends :)

It is so true! Doodles have magnetic personalities! The other day my husband and I were at the park and I left them for 2 minutes to go to the car to get Sawyer's water bowl. When I came back my husband was surrounded by women of all ages! Everyone wants to know what breed he is, how old and how big he will be. We joke around and say Sawyer is a real "chick magnet."

Funny you should mention that...I just took our litter of puppies in for their first shots :( (they have been in for their deworming) and the vet said, "I don't know why these dogs are not selling everywhere! They are the best dogs! They have beautiful coats, wonderful faces and the most perfect temperaments! They really are the best dogs ever!"
Needless to say, this is her first "dood" experience. :D I am happy that it is such a pleasant one!

We got Cinnamon after almost a year without a dog. We had lost our 12 yr old cocker to heart failure. When we decided to get another dog, my hubby had heard of LD's and thought they would be a great dog for me to travel with. I really was against a new puppy because of that reason. Buddy was a pain to travel with, he would get so nervous and I would have to stop and get him calmed. Not an easy task when you are not home. Cinnamon takes everything in stride, charming everyone in her path. When I called our vet to tell her I was bringing in a puppy and that she was a doodle, she was thrilled because she had never seen one before.

When we take her to Petsmart, they all want to know what kind of dog she is. Some of the regulars know her on site, but the new people always ask. And they always remark on how well behaved she is (I know, it amazes me too!). Cin knows when she has an audience! She is 14 months now, and I can take her just about everywhere and she will behave. Now to get her to be that good at home!

The first time I saw one of these dogs was tonight in a hotel in Naples where we are staying. I fell in love. What a beautiful dog. I have always thought a Golden Retriever was the only dog for me but may be changing my mind!!

We got another "is that a labradoodle?" this week-end. That just tickles Toby to death. He loves to be recognized!!! I now know three doodles in Knoxville....still working on that romp. I must admit my Toby is becoming a wonderful ambassador for his breed! :D I LOVE Doodles....
