Hi. Thought I would update you one more time on Charley. He never really got any better, in fact got much worse. Took him to his vet two more times, did xrays, blood, finally sent us to an orthpedic vet specialist. He was to the point that he could not move without pain, legs were not working properly, and no meds were touching the pain. Orthopedic vet first diagnoised Pano, but, with reservations, since none of the usual drugs had worked. He sent him home with new drugs for the weekend, but, again, the pain did not lessen, got worse. Went back on Monday, They kept him for two days, did tests, and more x-rays, consulted with a vet radiologist, and finally the answer. Charley has discospondalytis (? Spelling), It is a strep virus that attacked the disc in his spine. It is taken care of with keflex and pain meds. Will be on them for 3 weeks. We are lucky. Discospondalytis can crush disc, and then surgery is required. Our vet does not believe that that has happpened because he has responded so well to the anti-biotic. So, thats our story, Charley came home from the hospital today, he's happy to be home and feeling almost like his own self again. We will have to keep a close eye on him, but, that's easy. The house was too quiet with out him. Keep a close eye on your dogs. Keep asking questions of your vet and, above all, follow your instincts. Thanks for all you good thoughts. Charley and his Mom.
