Hi. My dog is also 7 months old and a power chewer! I have stopped buying him toys because he can and will destroy them in about 3 seconds. My issue is his bed. I have purchased him beds that he has managed to chew open and disembowel within a day of receiving them. I am tired of wasting my money. Is there a fabric that may be a deterrant to chewing:? I will make a bed for him if I can be somewhat certain that he will not destroy it. He is inside the house with us during the day, but sleeps in the garage with our other dog. He has stopped chewing up the things in the house, thank goodness, but his bed is an issue. I'm sure he might be bored, but he has access to the yard and another dog that plays well with him. He goes to bed about 8 p.m. and I bring them in about 7:30 a.m. He is not spendiing great deals of time alone outside. Any suggestions? Leslie

I watched her like a hawk and would just tell Bella in a menacing tone:
"If you chew that bed you are not getting another one."
Somehow, some way, it worked.

Frankie is now 8 months old and he has never chewed up anything he lays on, which includes him bed. He has even pulled my throw pillows off the couch just to lay on, and has never chewed them up. He is pretty goofy! But when it comes to anything else, especially shoes, socks, towels and anything else like that he will tear it up and shred it. I really wouldn't buy anything expensive for him and if you have old comforters you don't want you can also use those for now.

Jonah has a knotted fleece blanket he rips at...holding up pretty good. he doesn't get it at night. he sleeps in my bed while i'm watching tv, tv goes off, Jonah gets down...his choice not mine...then sleeps on the area rung or the hard wood floor in my room.

Otto is 9 months old and never chews his bedding, he will chew whatever you give him and he knows he can have, but his bed he leaves alone, he may trash it into a heap but that is his preverance, but as yet does not chew it

know those tags that says it's illegal to remove?
well don't tell anyone but Max is a criminal....tears every one off.

I must be the lucky one in the bunch?...Max only shreds toys. he loves finding and getting squeakers out and i snap them up quickly. Though I have been known to put one in my mouth and drive him nuts trying to get at it hahhhahahaa hey, i have to have a bit of fun too you know

However, we one huge tropical plant of my finace's(dave).
Max looks at Dave , bites the plant quickly and run like the devil hahhahaa with my fiance calling after Max who is now snapping his teeth in happiness.

NOW our socks and my "good" panties get the Max-imized with bearded doodle slobber. Also every night we do the "no no Max" when he tries to bite my blanket and finally after licking it to death ----falls asleep.

On a serious note: we purchased Max a bed from Sams Club that has memory foam in it and has a swede like cover . For some reason he hasn't ripped off the (illegal to remove tag and doesn't chew it.

I know of another doodle and lab owners too that have this same bed is not----their dogs don't chew at all and also love to lay on it.

Annmarie, you are too funny! Do you really squeak Max's toys in your mouth????

I bought the memory foam bed recently, too because I thought it would be good for Bella's hips. I changed the insert in her regular bed that she loves and put the memory foam insert into it. She tried to dig and dig to get to it. It does have a smell to it that needs to air out. I switched the inserts back around and so now the memory foam bed is in the family room. She likes to nibble on the corners of it, so I advise round beds for chewers

omg!!! hhhaahha not funny but it is when it's SOMEONE else's doodle

ohhhhhhhh gene how do you keep your sanity??? i think i'd end up having a drink if I came home to that.
I'm probably getting a goldendoodle pup soon to be a playmate for Max but also thinking of the events to follow.

Gene I am in shock seeing that tray. Then again I've always crated Max when I leave as i do NOT trust a almost 6mo old for any reason.

The only thing I do with Max is if he goes after something he shouldn't like let's say shoes. I then put the SHOES right next to him and each time he goes near them I say NO Max...usually after 4 -5 tries he stops(or a whole day of NO's).

So far it has worked with shoes, towels, plants, my stuffed animals, and more.

SOCKS and paper napkins that's one area I leave alone.

hang in there GENE!!!!
