A sigh of relief, prayer of thanks (OT)

You know I don't have TV yet, but I was on pogo playing games and someone mentioned an interstate collapsing into the mississippi in Minneapolis. I immediately went to CNN.com and read the horrible story. I began frantically dialing my daughter, and all I could get was "circuits busy" messages. I kept dialing and finally got through. She had received a call at 4:30 p.m. to come in for overtime, which she's been doing lately for extra money. She said "mom, something told me to turn this one down, so I did. If I hadn't, I'd have been right in the middle of it." She still doesn't know how she'll get to work tomorrow, as she doesn't know of an alternate route to the 35W bridge. She's watching the horrible coverage of it live now, and thanking God she had a gut feeling that kept her home.

Are any of our friends here in Minneapolis? Hoping everyone is safe, and feeling the relief only a mother can feel when a child is in danger.

Wow! I just read about the bridge before coming to the forum for updates, and I was wondering if we knew anyone in the area. I am so grateful that your story this morning is a happy one.
I, too, am not a religious person...but very spiritual...I believe in higher powers and in fate and "whisperings" from guardians unseen...I am so glad that your daughter listened.
I pray (even though not conventionally) that all of those who are touched by this tradgedy will be comforted.
I am so sorry...of course, you can count on my prayers and good wishes. Please do keep us posted.
Rita, thank you for sharng your situation with us...it must not have been easy. We are all pulling for you, Gabe and your daughter.
I wonder...ask your daughter if Gabe, by any chance, had a cold sore before this happened?
I knew of a teenage girl with similar, baffling, circumstances and the doctors asked that...and the mother found a picture of her with a cold sore...turned out that the virus was spread to her brain and caused the problems...if caught in time it can be treated.
Just grasping at straws here...bless you all!
