well, i'm a little nervous...i'm taking jonah to get his nails trimmed tomorrow, plus bath. they're also going to do the ear hair, trim between the pads, and shave a little around the hiney (our sensitive stomach causes occasional runs). stupid question, should i get the hair around the eyes trimmed? he looks so darn cute, but can he see through the fluff?
he's been quite active lately while i've been nursing a bad cold, so i pity the poor groomer that has to wrestle him tomorrow. hopefully they won't raise the price!

right now he's on nutro holistic for large breed puppies. i've heard good things about blue buffalo brand with sweet potato, but they don't make in puppy. i'm also not sure when is a good time to switch to adult. my vet doesn't seem to have a strong opinion one way or another. any ideas?

I always have ideas lol :)

I switched at 6 months. I heard good things about the buffalo today also - how weird. My dog did very well on Duck and Potato. It settled him so that we could try a few others and this Nutro really did they trick. The Duck and Potato was like $40 for 20 pounds so I kinda needed to get a little less expensive. I mean dont get me wrong I just spent $320 tonight on 8 bags of food ya know..... I dont feel too bad for my monsters  8)

i know a woman who was a rep for buffalo, and of course she sings thier praises. she told me nutro was bought out by someone else recently, so keep an eye out for additives. don't know if this is true or not. you are right about the price, but since i only have one.....i'll try it.

did you get your pics. posted yet? love to see the little "monsters"

the monster pics are a little too large so I need to resize, I was tired so I posted a pic of me on motorcycle that I knew had been edited LOL I wanted to make sure it worked! You can look under photos on my website to see some pics of them but later I will get some in gallery!!

Did not know that about Nutro.... its funny you would say because since we moved here about 3 months ago I have been finding it a pain to locate my food and have been tossing around switching to better, but with so many doggies its an endeavor to change to say the least! I will clip ingredients from a bag of Nutro and keep my eyes out for maybe something different and to see if they do change. Thanks for the warning!

HI...i've been wondering what you mean by sensitive stomachs.
My max as of today is being put on a bland diet of boiled rice with either turkey or beef for the next week.

He's 18wks old, active ,healthy ,chases socks and does the tazmanian devil run daily, etc...but he does have a bile like moment every afternoon for the past week. Yes bringing a stool sample today.

I too was wondering about switching his brand of food. the Lamb/rice stuff gives his the squirts if more than a few tidbits are added to his normal food.

lamb and rice is suppose to be real good, but my dog didnt do well on it. I am not sure he tolerates the lamb well. the sensitive stomach formula of nutro just happen to have the right combo of ingredients that worked for us, but he does not "need" sensitive stomach food. Really just good ingredients and no wheat or corn and healthy stuff should do the trick. there are soooo many foods out there its so complicated and difficult to try all the good ones!

ok, we just got back from the groomers and i think he grew while he was there. thank the lord i didn't ask them to trim him except around the hiney. they brushed him a little overzealously (new word), and he has a red sore on his head. :x needless to say, no more petco grooming. the people that i talked to on the phone and in person, were not the ones who did him. he's fine, i bought him a "temporary" toy to destroy. so far, he's just enjoying the grunt noise! i can't stop laughing now

Gene, Jonah is so adorable :) He looks so much like my Jazmine did when she was younger. She is almost completely silver now :D It has taken 2 1/2 years but she is finally turning all the way silver. If I were to trim the ends of her coat now, she would be all silver. She's just GORGEOUS!!!!!!

some dogs never even eat puppy food. our great dane went straight to adult. its a matter of protein and bone growth. I had a 7 pound poodle that stayed on puppy food several years. I am surprised that your vet doesnt have an opinion about this. (not trying to sound bossy lol just surprised :))

i was too. and i thought it strange because he's very big (and expensive) in this area, and is a huge believer in animal rights, spaying/neutering, etc. in fact when i got jonah, the first thing he said was, "please tell me he's not from a puppy mill!". i like his assistant much better, i think it's partially the female touch, plus she did a very nice job when i had to put my 15yo cocker down in early sept.
